I got up at four thirty this morning to take some images of the Super Moon. I wanted to get the lunar eclipse but the moon had not risen in my neighborhood at the time the eclipse had occurred. So, I decided I wanted to capture the Super Moon while it sets. The actual moon set wasn’t anything to photograph but I’m pleased with these images.
This first series of images were taken at around five o’clock.
Diffused moonlight by natural cloud filter….
Again, playing with clouds for cool effects….
I’m literally sitting on the boat ramp to take this image….
Moonlight dancing off the water…..
Closer…..
CLOSE!
This is a hand-held shot….
…and it takes several tries to get it right.
As the early dark hours progress to the pre-dawn twilight…
Blue hues are distinguishable….
A little water play with the moonlight….
Moon and clouds….
Then, the CRACK O’ DAWN occurs but the moon has yet to set. These are images of the SUPER MOON as the sun rises and becomes visible.
Super-saturated for emphasis and effect!
The moon peering through the clouds….
A close up of the moon peering out of the clouds…..
At about this point, I realize the moonset will not be spectacular today.
There is just too much sunlight for the setting of the moon to stand out.
It merely fades away…..
